Guwahati: A girl student allegedly attempted suicide following mental intimidation from her teacher at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Banekuchi of Nalbari district.

As per reports, two other girls from the same school also blamed the teacher for mental harassment.

This incident became apparent when Human Rights Commission team reached the school on Tuesday to examine the reports filed by the girl's family regarding the suicidal case.

However, the principal of the school, Ajit Kumar straightforwardly contradicted the allegations about the teacher being involved in torturing the student both mentally and physically in the hostel.

Meanwhile, the family of the victim as well as the district's bothered people conveyed hope that the enigma behind this suicidal episode will soon be revealed after the Human Rights Commission's inspection.

Earlier in November 2021, a class 12 student hanged herself in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.

Her parents claimed that the reason behind their daughter's suicide was the sexual harassment by a school educator.

The 17-year-old minor girl committed this self-destruction incident at her home in the RS Puram area, Coimbatore when her parents were not present at their residence. The minor girl also left a suicide letter where she mentioned the names of three people.

The deceased girl's father claimed that no action was taken by the concerned authority of the school against the accused named Mithun Chakravarthy who had been continuously harassing his daughter.

Later, the accused educator was detained by the police, and charges were framed under the Indian Penal Code section 306 as well as under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act section 9L r/w section 20
