DISPUR:
According to an official, the Assam government ruled out that all schools would continue to be closed even after the summer break owing to the state's current COVID-19 crisis, and has urged authorities to take efforts to conduct online lessons.
The ruling was issued on Monday and went into effect immediately. Summer vacation in schools is often recognized throughout the month of July.
B Kalyan Chakravarthy, Principal Secretary of the Secondary Education Department, has directed district administration authorities to prepare for online lessons in order to ensure continuity in students' learning processes.
On June 14, the summer break in schools came to an end.
He directed that all secondary and primary school directors, all school inspectors, other department officials, and heads of government and private educational institutes take steps to offer online lessons until additional instructions or the reopening of these institutes.
In the midst of a blazing second wave of COVID-19, the administration had advanced the one-month summer break in schools to May 15.
As of Monday according to the data taken from the National Health Mission's notification, Assam reported fresh 3,415 cases of COVID-19, taking the caseload in the state to 4,66,950. In the last 24 hours, 34 COVID-induced fatalities have been reported across Assam thereby pushing the total death toll in the state to 4,028. The active caseload in Assam now stands at 39,837.
Yesterday's COVID positivity rate stood at 2.57% while the recovery rate stood at 90.31%
The State Government issued a new SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) with certain modifications on Tuesday. The new SOP will be effective from Wednesday. While the existing restrictions have been relaxed to a large extent in some districts, some other districts have been kept under observations up to June 22 till when the existing SOP will continue there.
In Kamrup (M) shops and other commercial establishments will remain open till 1 pm and the covid curfew will be from 2 pm. All government and private offices in Kamrup (M) will function up to 1 pm.
