Assam: SCO B2B Meet Comes To An End, Generates Rs 590 Crore

GUWAHATI: The first "SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization) B2B Conference and Exhibition on Traditional Medicine," which came to an end here on Sunday, gave buyers and sellers from many nations a platform to discuss their potential for international trade in order to meet the demands of the general public.

The conference's vigorous discussions between buyers and sellers created additional trade interest worth over Rs 590 crore.

Union Ayush Minister Sarbananda Sonowal opened this first-of-its-kind conference and expo as part of the SCO initiative on March 2.

The two-day conference and four-day expo were attended by more than 150 delegates from 17 different nations.

The fact that more than Rs 590 crore in trade interest was generated during the event is an enormous realisation for this amazing endeavour.

While this indicates the expo's immediate success, the conference also laid the groundwork for increased interaction and cooperation among the states as part of the SCO plan, according to Union Minister Sonowal.

Ayushexcil provided assistance as Invest India held B2B discussions during the event under the auspices of the Minister of Ayush (Ayush Export Promotion Council).

Buyers from 19 countries and the expo's more than 56 exhibitors engaged in discussions and expressed interest in trading in traditional medicines.

During the first day of the conference, there were more than 50 one-on-one encounters between buyers and vendors.

Ayurvedic medicine, herbal nutraceuticals, Ayurvedic cosmetics, etc., were among the traditional medicinal goods that attracted the most interest.

During the second day of the conference, more than 75 meetings were held with attendees from India, Tajikistan, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Bahrain, and Sri Lanka.

Companies like Damaira Pharma, AIMIL Global, Herbal Strategi Homecare, Almaty, Dindayal Industries, and Fidalgo Healthcare, among others, expressed trade interest of Rs 590 crore at the B2B meetings.

Ayurveda gel and oil, capsules, hair remedies, nutraceuticals, home care and hygiene, and veterinary items were among the product categories that attracted interest.

As many as nine Letters of Intent were submitted to the sector.
