Guwahati: The Batadrava police station incident has taken a new turn after astonishing details have now cropped up that seem to confirm that the angry mob had deliberately set ablaze the Batadrava police station.
A video which has surfaced online showed a youth, who appears to be in his twenties, provoking the women who were part of the mob who set the Batadrava police station on fire.
In the video, the youth can be seen coaxing the women to set ablaze the police station and footage which emerged showed the women armed with petrol bottles and seemingly ready to torch the police station.
As per the police, a group of people was seen setting the files containing important documents on fire before setting ablaze the police station.
In a video, the police also identified an infamous drug mafia from Dhing named Lalu, who was seen hurling stones at the police station.
According to reports, Lalu happens to be the mastermind of the drug nexus in the Nagaon district of Assam and he was identified from the video clip of the violent incident that took place in Batadrava on May 21. Police informed that the drug kingpin is still on the run and ongoing efforts to hunt him down.
Meanwhile, the police have so far detained six people including one woman in connection with the case. All the arrested persons were produced before the court on May 23.
Moreover, all the prime accused in the Batadrava incident have been sent to four-day police custody by the court and this ruling came despite the fact that the police had sought their police custody for 14 days.
