Assam: Several Road Accidents Claim Lives, Cause Injuries in Dibrugarh

GUWAHATI: In a somber incident that unfolded on a Friday, a fatal road accident occurred at Naharkatiya within Assam's Dibrugarh district, leaving one woman dead and numerous others injured. The mishap involved a Bolero pickup van transporting laborers, which tragically collided near Tipam village. The unfortunate collision claimed the life of a woman named Sanja Gowala, one of the occupants, while also inflicting injuries on 14 others who were aboard the vehicle. Prompt medical attention was provided to the injured victims as they were swiftly admitted to a nearby medical facility for treatment and care.

Shockingly, this was not an isolated incident within the region. Assam witnessed a distressing series of road accidents that occurred within a single day, highlighting the alarming issue of road safety in the state. In one instance, a head-on collision involving a Suzuki car and an Innova on the Lakhimpur bypass resulted in the loss of a young woman's life and left six others injured. The impact of the collision was so severe that the woman lost her life on the spot, underscoring the need for stringent traffic regulations and responsible driving practices.

Tragedy struck once again in the Sonitpur district of Assam, where another road accident claimed a life and caused serious injury. A collision between a dumper and a motorcycle at Towbhanga near Jamugurihat led to the unfortunate demise of the pillion rider, identified as Rupak Hazarika. Meanwhile, the rider of the motorcycle, Nripen Hazarika, sustained serious injuries and was urgently rushed to a nearby medical facility for critical care.

These heart-wrenching incidents serve as a grim reminder of the pressing road safety concerns prevailing in Assam. The increasing frequency of such accidents, resulting in fatalities and injuries, demands immediate attention from both authorities and citizens alike.
