Nalbari: Rubul Hazarika, another prime accused in the infamous cash-for-jobs scam in the recruitment of Assam Police Sub-Inspectors (Unarmed Branch) was on Friday arrested by the Special Branch and Criminal Investigation Department (CID) from Nalbari district.
Immediately after his arrest, the accused was interrogated by the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) for law and order GP Singh interrogated Rubul Hazarika in Nalbari. Hazarika is now being brought to Guwahati for further investigations.
According to reports, Hazarika has links with Akshay Telecommunication, the company which got the sub-contract for conducting an SI recruitment scam. The company came under the scanner after allegations that it was involved in leaking the question papers of the SI (written) examinations. Thereafter, its office at Bongaigaon was sealed by the police. The police also raided the houses of Akshay Chand Baid, and Rubul Hazarika, the owner, and partner of Akshay Telecommunication, respectively.
Earlier in the day, Saruj Sarma, an accused in the infamous SI recruitment scam, was arrested in Guwahati. He has been on the run since his name came up in the scam.
The prime accused, and former DIG PK Dutta, took Sarma's name during his police interrogation. Sarma was arrested on Friday from LGBI Aiport, Guwahati. Sarma is also linked to the controversial company Akshay Telecommunication.
Earlier, on Wednesday, prime accused PK Dutta was bought to Assam in the wee hours of October 7. He is now in six-day CID Custody. Another prime accused, a former BJP youth leader, Diban Deka was arrested on October 1.
