Guwahati: Diban Deka, one of the prime accused in the Assam Police Sub-Inspectors (SI) cash-for-jobs scam, who was produced in a Guwahati court on Monday (October 12), was sent to 14-days judicial custody after the CID did not ask for his further custody.

Along with Deka, other accused persons in the case (namely: Manjit Bora, Tarani Kanta Banikya, Rupam Das, and Pradip Mazumdar) were also produced in court today.

Earlier, the former BJP leader was in the custody of the Crime branch for 5 days, after which he was transferred to the CID for 6 days.

Diban Deka, one of the prime accused in Sub Inspector (SI) paper leak scam, has surrendered before the Assam Police on Wednesday, September 30. Along with former DIG PK Dutta, Diban Deka is the prime accused in the case.

Assam Police had extensive launched search operations to capture Diban and were finally successful in arresting the ex-BJP leader, who went absconding when his name cropped up in the scam.

In another bombshell development, Kumar Sanjit Krishna, the former SP of Barpeta, has been summoned for questioning in the leakage of question papers for recruitment of Assam Police Sub-Inspectors (Unarmed Branch). In a recent Assam Police shake-up, Krishna was transferred as the SP of Barpeta FRRO.
