Guwahati: A Guwahati Court on Tuesday sent Deputy Inspector General (retd) of police PK Dutta to 14-days judicial custody. Dutta's 6 days' custody under the CID ended today. The former police officer is one of the prime accused in the Assam Police Sub-Inspector cash-for-jobs scam.

Speaking to media persons after the verdict, Dutta's lawyer informed that the former DIG has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days as his CID custody ended today. The CID didn't seek his remand before the court.

Dutta, the prime accused in the Assam Police recruitment scam, was arrested from the Kakarbhitta area along the Indo-Nepal border while he was on run. Dutta was reportedly ferried across the border where he was staying with his son-in-law, a Nepalese resident.

Earlier, Diban Deka, one of the prime accused in the Assam Police Sub-Inspectors (SI) cash-for-jobs scam, who was produced in a Guwahati court on Monday (October 12), was sent to 14-days judicial custody after the CID did not ask for his further custody.
