Assam: Silpi Divas observed in Goalpara town

In a united effort by East Goalpara, Pancharatna and Ratnapeeth chapter of Xahitya Xabha and in cooperation with the cultural platform ‘Brahmanad’, the 72nd death anniversary of Rupkonwar Jyoti Prasad Agarwala was observed as the Silpi Divas on Wednesday at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel library of Goalpara town.

Goalpara: In a united effort by East Goalpara, Pancharatna and Ratnapeeth chapter of Xahitya Xabha and in cooperation with the cultural platform ‘Brahmanad’, the 72nd death anniversary of Rupkonwar Jyoti Prasad Agarwala was observed as the Silpi Divas on Wednesday at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel library of Goalpara town.

The meeting was presided over by noted litterateur M Abdul Mozid Khan where professor Abul Hussain, Chittaranjan Kalita and distinguished social activist Sailen Das, besides several others, spoke at length about Rupkonwar and his art, culture, music and philosophy in the meeting. On the other hand, radio artiste Monalisa Das, along with other artistes like Nirmali Sarma, Farjana Yesmin, Jamuna Das and Selima Sultana Ahmed performed ‘Jyoti Sangeet.’
