TINSUKIA: A small stretch of NH 38 between Borgolai and Ledu Tea Estate under Margherita sub-division in Tinsukia district has turned out to be deathtrap as big potholes on the road took the shape of miniature ponds.

The road connecting Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district has hundreds of vehicles on it, and aside from sporadic patch works, it hasn’t been adequately fixed since 2017. While the National Highway Authority of India seems to non-reactive over the plight of passengers and vehicle owners along with the commuters, the local MLA allegedly remained apathetic towards his own voters. A smart shower makes the potholes that developed close to Tirap Colliery near Gate No 6 into ponds making the area highly vulnerable to accidents. According to local residents representations were submitted to the local MLA, Margherita sub-divisional administration and Tinsukia district administration time and again but no heed was paid ever.
