TEZPUR: The main highlight of the Sonitpur District Day programme on Thursday was the inauguration of the three-day Artificial Limb Fitment camp (Jaipur Foot Camp) being held at Tezpur Government HS School, which was inaugurated by MLA Tezpur Prithiraj Rava.
The camp is being organized by Shree Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti, Jaipur in association with Sonitpur district administration, Dept of Women and Child Development and Indian Red Cross Society, Sonitpur district branch. A total of 916 PwD beneficiaries have been identified for the camp and all aids and assistive devices will be handed over free-of-cost.
The camp has been sponsored by ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ under the Ministry of Women and Child Development. The Sonitpur district administration will organize such camps every 3-6 months to help the PwDs and also elderly people who require assistance.
Sonitpur district administration also felicitated nine para athletes who had recently brought laurels to the district in an All Assam Para Sports Meet held at Sarusajai recently.
