Muslims too joined the celebration as special namaj was offered at various masjids. Matlib Barbhuiyan, the assistant Imam of Silchar Itkhola Idgah said, respecting the appeal made by the Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma they had arranged a special namaj at the time of consecration in Ayodhya.

Meanwhile, following the State government’s notification, the district administration of all the three districts of the Barak Valley had issued instructions to the fish and meat vendors to stop selling till 4 pm. The fish and market at Fatak bazar wore a deserted look today. Though the streets were agog with people in festive moods, the city was in a lazy mood today as vehicles from the outskirts did not move.
