Assam: SSB DG Meets CM, DGP; Reviews Security Scenario Along Bhutan Border

GUWAHATI: Director General of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Rashmi Shukla on Monday paid a visit to the different frontier posts of the force in Assam and reviewed the force’s preparedness in terms of security along the Indo-Bhutan border, said an official release.

The DG took stock of the work being done and the level of security preparedness being maintained by the SSB on the Bhutan border and issued necessary directions, even as she reviewed the works.

The SSB release, shared by Defence PRO Guwahati, also stated that the SSB DG is on a visit to Frontier Guwahati, Sonapur Headquarters post from August 6.

SSB Director General Rashmi Shukla on Sunday called on Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during a scheduled visit and expressed her gratitude on behalf of the force, thereby presenting him with a memento and tree sapling.

She went on to visit at Frontier Headquarters Sonapur, Guwahati, where she was welcomed with a Guard of Honour.

DG Rashmi Shukla also addressed a Sainik Sammelan at the Sonapur HQ and exhorted the jawans to perform their duties with all due sincerity and honesty, with display of good behaviour towards the border population.

Continuing her visit on Monday, the SSB DG held a meeting with Assam Director General of Police GP Singh, during which pleasantries were exchanged between them.

After that, she embarked on a visit to SSB Sector HQs at Rangia and the 24th BN HQ at Rangia and held another review meeting there, which was followed by a Sanik Sammelan in which the SSB DG motivated the force personnel to face the various problems and challenges faced by them during the course of duty with their full strength.

The most important visit by the Director General was done to the Darranga Bhutan gate, where she interacted with the Superintendent of Police and Deputy Commissioner of Samdrup Jongkhar District, besides meeting with SSB Jawans on duty at the Bhutan Gate.

The SSB DG also paid a visit to BOP Daranga and held another Sanik Sammelan with all the Jawans and officers of the unit posted there and motivated the force personnel to perform their duties with utmost sincerity and effectiveness.

She further enquired about all welfare-related issues being done for the BOP and unit, especially those of the Mahila components deployed on the India Bhutan Border.
