Industry Minister inaugurates Nano Incubation Centres at Cachar, Dibrugarh, and Kokrajhar

GUWAHATI: Assam Startup – the Nest organized an event 'Udyam' to commemorate the two year journey and success of the Assam startup initiative on February 13. The programme showcased the journey of Assam Startup right from its inception to the present, highlighting the new initiatives and its impact.

Speaking on the occasion, Industries and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, said, "Assam Startup – the Nest was a dream project of Government of Assam and I feel extremely satisfied that within a short span of two years, it has been able to cross many milestones in bringing about a startup revolution in the State."

The Minister stated, "Today's an ever-changing world with rapid growth and transformation in every sphere in human civilization. This century will be dominated by startups, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT) and Internet of Everything (IoE). To keep pace with the constant changes, the industrial sector needs spirited youth with innovative ideas. An incubation centre to mould their dreams into reality is of utmost importance here. Assam Startup has created a benchmark in inspiring the youths to dream big, fulfill their vision and turning them into job creators."

The Minister virtually inaugurated three Incubation Centres at Cachar, Dibrugarh and Kokrajhar. "These Nano Incubation Centres will serve the much-needed step to serve the aspirations of the start-ups from Upper Assam who find it difficult to come to Guwahati to take advantage of the incubation facilities," stated Patowary.

While congratulating the bright entrepreneurs and dedicated officials of Assam Startup, the Minister distributed grants of Rs. 5 lakh each to 14 startups. They have business innovations in the areas of robotics, drone technology, agriculture etc.

The Minister acknowledged the support of Assam Startup in providing scale-up grant of Rs. 3.3 crores to 31 incubated start-ups during the lockdown period, which gave the much-needed rejuvenation to their business, enabling zero mortality of any of the startups of Assam due to COVID-19, stated a release.
