BONGAIGAON: A team of the Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights headed by Deba Kumar Kalita, Chairperson, Ajoy Kumar Dutta, Phanindra Bujar Baruah, members and Nandinee Das, Technical Consultant visited Bongaigaon district on Tuesday. The team visited Bongaigaon district after a complaint was received against Dhanjit
Choudhury, District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) Bongaigaon by Mokibul Islam,
a reporter of Amar Asom. In his prayer before the Commission he attached a number of complaints against the DCPO regarding atrocities against children and their guardians, alleged bribery which is already registered at the office of the District Commissioner, Bongaigaon.
The team summoned all the complainants to the Conference Hall of the Circuit House Bongaigaon and heard their grievances against the DCPO of the district.
In addition to the complainants whose details were submitted before the Commission, new complainants also appeared before the team of the Commission.
The team also took the views of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), officials of the district, Child Protection Unit (DCPU) and staff of the registered children home Birjhara as part of the inquiry. The DCPO has also been summoned before the Commission for further inquiry about the matter, stated a press release.
