GUWAHATI: In a relentless series of operations against drug peddlers in the state, the Special Task Force (STF) Assam achieved a significant breakthrough on Thursday when they apprehended a drug peddler attempting to flee in the Amingaon area. The perpetrator, identified as Moinul Ali from Alikash in the Hajo Police Station (PS), was intercepted while transporting narcotics in a Tata Nexon bearing the registration number AS 01 FQ 6558.
Acting on a tip-off regarding Ali's illegal activities, a dedicated team from the STF, led by Additional SP Kalyan Kr Pathak, swiftly mobilized and rushed to the scene to apprehend the suspect.
Upon their arrival in the Amingaon area, the STF team spotted Ali in a four-wheeler vehicle. However, as soon as he noticed the presence of law enforcement, the accused attempted to make a hasty escape towards Jalukbari. In a thrilling pursuit, the STF team pursued Ali and ultimately cornered him at Fancy Para, within the jurisdiction of the Jalukbari Police Station. To prevent his escape, a single warning shot had to be fired.
Subsequent to Ali's capture, a thorough search of his vehicle was conducted, yielding a staggering discovery - 12 soapboxes containing approximately 170 grams of heroin were recovered from the concealed compartments. This find represented a substantial seizure in the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in the region.
However, the operation did not conclude with the vehicle search. The STF continued its efforts to eradicate the drug trade by conducting a meticulous search of Ali's rented residence near LCB College, Kamakhya Gate. This search led to the seizure of an additional 120 vials, each containing 100 grams of heroin. The cumulative impact of this operation was a substantial blow to the drug trade in the area.
As a result of these successful operations, necessary legal action is currently being initiated against Moinul Ali, and the STF's unwavering commitment to curbing drug peddling remains evident. This operation is a testament to the tireless efforts of law enforcement agencies in Assam to tackle the pervasive issue of drug trafficking and protect the safety and well-being of the community.
