Assam: Stress laid on erecting solid edifice to help Assamese youths

SIVASAGAR: In yet another bid to accelerate the academic and intellectual journey of the college, the Gargaon College Alumni Association organized its third phase of Global Alumni Talk with the theme ‘Insight into Global Placement’ in collaboration with the IQAC recently.

The programme moderated by Sujata Gowala, Assistant Professor of the Department of Mathematics, was inaugurated by the Principal of the college, Dr Sabyasachi Mahanta. Eulogizing the various initiatives of the Association, Dr Mahanta stressed the need to erect a solid edifice to effectively help the Assamese-educated youths get settled in different sectors. He also expressed his deep delight in the great achievements of the Gargaon College graduates who despite coming from remote backward areas, are shining bright in both national and international spheres.

In his inaugural address, the President of Gargaon College Alumni Association, Deva Hazarika, urged the Association to maintain the continuity of organizing such programmes for better exposure of the alumni of the college. The thought-provoking speech of alumnus Bidur Gogoi was the focal point of the program. Bidur, as resource person of the talk, shared his striking journey of life from a mere rural boy to a cabin crew in Vistara Airline, one of the most prominent international airline services. He also shared with the students the various effective means of getting jobs in the airline sector.

The programme was graced by Vice Principal-cum-alumnus Dr Rina Handique along with many teachers of the college. Dr Jitu Saikia, secretary of the Alumni Association, and Pranab Dowarah, alumnus-cum-Head of the Assamese Department, also shared their feelings in the programme.
