Assam: Students’ mock poll held in Khanaguri MV School, Sootea

To make the kids aware of the voting process and electoral system, the Khanaguri MV School, Sootea had organized students’ mock poll on Friday at the school premises.

JAMUGURIHAT: To make the kids aware of the voting process and electoral system, the Khanaguri MV School, Sootea had organized students’ mock poll on Friday at the school premises. During the process, students were taught how to cast their votes on ballot papers and choose a person whom they want to be elected. The school authority had appointed one of the teachers as a returning officer for smooth functioning of the students election and nominations were accepted for five portfolios from the students. Similarly, students were given the duties of polling officials like presiding officer, first polling, second and third polling officers respectively.

Earlier to this, the contesting candidates campaigned for votes and posters were displayed by supporters of each contesting candidates. The main objective of holding students’ election was to teach primary process of democratic election, informed Dilip Bormudoi, headmaster of Khanaguri MV School.
