Assam, Sub-Inspector, Nabbed In State's Nagaon District, On Bribery Charges, Assam Special DGP GP Singh, Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Directorate, Kachua PS NagaonGuwahati: Assam police's Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Directorate on Saturday arrested a Sub-Inspector in the Nagaon district of central Assam over the over the charges of bribery.
The accused was identified as Anup Kakati, a police sub-inspector, who was posted at the Kachua police station in the Nagaon district.
Taking the to micro-blogging site Twitter, Assam Special DGP GP Singh said, ''The team of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption caught Sub Inspector Anup Kataki of Kachua PS Nagaon red-handed today while taking money asked for aiding the complainant's bail case.''
On August 24, the Anti-Corruption Wing had caught a dealing assistant red-handed while accepting a bribe in the Sub Registrar Office in the DC office complex in Assam's Biswanath District.
The accused was identified as Tapan Saha who allegedly received the corrupt money for rectifying the work pertaining to the registration of land.
Taking to micro-blogging, Assam Special Director General of Police (Law and Order) GP Singh said, '' Unsparing in our effort. Sri Tapan Saha, Dealing Assistant in the Sub Registrar Office in DC office complex Biswanath District has been trapped and arrested red-handed today by a team of @DIR_VAC_ASSAM accepting demanded money for processing registration of land. @CMOfficeAssam.''
Prior to this incident, a head school teacher named Didarul Islam of Morigaon district's Hatimoria MV School was also arrested on grounds of corruption indictment in updating the service book and issuing the complainant's Last Pay Certificate (LPC).
Notably, such cases are coming to the fore frequently and in one of these cases, in July this year, the vigilance and anti-corruption wing of Assam police also apprehended two state government officials red-handed while taking a bribe.
Another corruption case in Assam was registered in July 2022, when two state government officers were nabbed for taking bribes in separate operations, one in Dibrugarh and the other in Morigaon, informed the Chief of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau Special DGP GP Singh.
One more bribery case in Assam was unveiled in July 2022 regarding the apprehension of two state government officials while taking a bribe amount of Rs. 1 lakh from a person to supply a license for a wine shop in the state's Morigaon district.
Prior to this in May 2022, the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption department arrested a high-ranking official of the District Industries and Commerce Centre (DICC), Darrang for receiving demanded bribe amounting to Rs. 15,000 for sanctioning a loan to the complainant under the scheme of Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP).
