Jorhat: The Assam Police on Wednesday night recovered a body from Nakachari under Mariani police station in the district.
As per reports, the body is suspected to be of Tarun Das, a prime accused in the sensational triple murder case, which occurred at Khatti Suna area of Nakachari under Deberapar police outpost of Mariani police station on July 25.
On Wednesday night, three bodies were recovered from a hut behind a brick kiln in Nakachari. The deceased were identified as Hunti Bora, his wife Tulu Bora, and his daughter Mona Lisa Bora.
Some media reports have claimed that Tarun Das is a prime accused in the sensational murder case. However, police are looking into every possible angle and have sent the body for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, family members of the Das along with villagers went to Mariani police station on Thursday after receiving the information of the same.
However, Das's family members have refuted all the media reports claiming that the latter is behind the sensational murder. Instead, the family members claimed that Das has also been murdered and sought justice.
As per, Jorhat additional SP Mrinmoy Goswami, the identity of the body recovered near the site was yet to be established as the face and body had decomposed.
Goswami, further added that Tarun Das was the main suspect and that he had disappeared on the night of the triple murders.
The SP said that the person whose body was recovered might have also hanged himself that night, however, it will be too early to comment on the same as the post-mortem can only establish the cause of death.
