Assam: Suspended IAS Officer Interrogated Over Rs 105 Cr Pilferage

GUWAHATI: In a recent development, Sewali Devi Sharma, a suspended IAS official, is currently being questioned by the Chief Minister's Monitoring Cell on a significant embezzlement case. The questioning started at approximately 10 a.m on 6th of April at the vigilance office.

Sewali Devi Sharma is charged with embezzling a staggering Rs 105 crore. The allegations against her are very serious, and this is a large sum of public money. 

In this situation, more people including education officers are also being interrogated by the concerned authorities. The authorities are also questioning a number of additional education officers and staff members. The investigation is ongoing, and it is anticipated that it will reveal further information about the nature of the theft and the degree to which other people were involved. 

The Chief Minister's Monitoring Cell is treating this situation seriously and has pledged to exhaust all investigative options in an effort to learn the truth. All those involved in the embezzlement will be made to answer for their acts, according to the authorities. 

It is important to note that Sewali Devi Sharma was recently suspended from her employment as an IAS officer due to this case. The suspension was a blatant sign that the authorities were serious about the situation and committed to finding the truth. 

The investigation is still ongoing, so it's unclear what new information will eventually surface. Therefore, it is crucial that those accountable be held accountable for their conduct, as this is obviously an important case of alleged theft. Undoubtedly, the authorities will put forth great effort to see that justice is served and that the in question public funds are restored. 

It should be noted that while serving as Executive Chairman and Director of SCERT, Sewali opened five bank accounts without the Assam government's consent.
