Assam: Tension Prevails In JNV, Student Of Class 9 Beaten Up By Senior

GUWAHATI: An unsettling incident occurred at the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya on Wednesday, where a student was attacked by his seniors and sustained serious injuries.

As per sources, a student from class 9 was allegedly attacked by few students from class 12 while he was eating lunch at his hostel.

The student was attacked brutally after which he was quickly brought to the hospital. However, the reason for the attack is still a mystery.

In the interim, the family insisted the school management authorities to pay the medical expenses of the victim.

Anand Sarma, a first-semester commerce student, suffered serious injuries when he jumped off the second floor of the Padmanath Gohain Baruah Students' Hostel on November 27 to avoid a severe ragging scenario by senior students.

According to accounts, Sarma's accident caused him to sustain back injuries as well as fractures in his right hand, necessitating surgery. Sharma had two procedures, one on December 1 and the other on December 6.


The accused was taken into custody after the victim's relatives reported the event. Simanta Hazarika, Pranjit Boruah, and the main defendant, Rahul Chetry, were all granted bail by a Dibrugarh court on February 14.

On Wednesday a case from Tinsukia came to light, where criminals stabbed a suspected drug dealer in broad daylight.

The incident took place in the village of Kakopathar in the district.

The deceased has been identified as Bhaikon Sonowal. Sources claim that Bhaikon and two other individuals got into a heated argument, and one of the criminals brought out a sharp object and stabbed the victim. The two men left the area on a bike right after committing

Police reportedly conducted a search of the area near Doomdooma and detained two individuals.
