Assam: Third Folk Tea festival in Biswanath

BISWANATH CHARIALI: The Folk Tea Festival was started in 2021 in Biswanath with an emphasis on the promotion of rural tourism and folk culture and adventurism. This time from November 24 to 26, the festival will be organised at Pavai near Biswanath Chariali in the middle of tea gardens. Eminent singer Joy Barua will inaugurate the Folk Tea Festival on November 24. On the other hand, on the occasion of 200 years of Assam tea, a photo exhibition on its history has been organized at the Folk Tea Festival. The entire history of Assam tea will be captured in this exhibition.

The students of Government College of Art and Craft, Guwahati will showcase their artworks at the exhibition. This will be followed by the programme on space. For that, four astronomers will come from Guwahati. Apart from this, a documentary on Assam Tea directed by Samujjal Kashyap, a renowned filmmaker of the Film Division of India and a national level filmmaker. will be shown.

The second day will begin with well known food expert Atul Lahkar’s forgotten art of making tea. Apart from this, tourists will be taken to pluck tea and then to visit the tea factory to let them know firsthand about how to make tea. On both the evenings, cultural nights with famous artists like Rupam Bhuyan and Arghodeep Baruah will be held along with a group of four bowl singers from Shanti Niketan. Also, tourists will be able to enjoy Jhumur and Bhaona. There will also be camping and a car rally for adventurers. The car rally is to be held on the last day through Arunachal Foot Hills-Seizusa and Pratapgarh Tea Estate. Several promos of the folk tea festival have already been released.
