Assam: Three Peddlers Arrested With Narcotics by Biswanath Police

The team was able to recover a small amount of suspected brown sugar from the suspected peddlers.

BISWANATH: An operation carried out by the police department of Assam led to the arrest of three suspected narcotics peddlers along with the recovery of narcotics from their possession.

It can be noted that a team from the Biswanath Sadar Police carried out an operation in the Japoubari locality in the Biswanath district on the morning of Wednesday. This led to the arrest of one suspected narcotics peddler named Babul Khan. Based on the confessions of Babul Khan, the police team was able to arrest two more peddlers in front of the Biswanath Power Department office. Their names were revealed to be Asim Daimari and Bijut Bodo respectively.

The team was also able to recover a small amount of suspected brown sugar from the suspected peddlers. The total seizure was mentioned to be about 4 grams.

It was mentioned that although the state government and the state police are taking steps towards the prohibition of narcotics substances, some miscreants are still continuing to smuggle in such contraband material into different parts of the state, resulting in the youth of the state continuing the consumption of such harmful materials and getting addicted to the same and also is the root cause for other social evils. The Biswanath district continues to be one of the destinations for such contraband materials even though the district administration and Biswanath Police continue to take steps to prevent the propagation and supply of such materials and arrest those involved in these circles.

In a separate incident, narcotic substances valued at Rs 10 crore have been seized by Assam Police in the state’s Cachar district, an official said, adding two persons were also arrested on this connection. The arrested individuals have been identified as Alenbi Pathimi and Parbhez Sultan Majumdar. Both are natives of Cachar district. A senior police officer said that they got prior information about the movement of a huge cache of narcotic substances through the Cachar district and, accordingly, police increased vigilance in different areas. According to the police, 50,000 Yaba tablets were recovered from the possession of Alenbi Pathimi.
