GUWAHATI: Assam education minister
Dr. Ranoj Pegu on Thursday has said that his government has decided to resume
physical classes for class 10 from September 20.
Speaking to the reporters Dr. Pegu said, "We have decided to resume the physical 10 standard classes from Monday. It will no more be online. No more than 30 students are allowed in each section of the class. A new SOP will be released by tomorrow for the teachers and students of class 10. And I would urge the students to mentally prepare themselves to attend classes from this coming Monday."
He informed that students and teachers have to follow the covid-19 protocols and sanitization should be started from today itself.
The minister said that the government would soon resume classes for other classes too.
He also informed that classes of 12th standard and degree courses have already started in the state.
Earlier, the Board of Secondary Education, Assam has decided to reduce the Course Curriculum of each and every subject approximately by 40% in comparison with Academic Session 2019 for the convenience of exams of the students studying in class 9 and 10 in the academic session 2021-2022. In a notification Board of Secondary Education, Assam has written that in view of the Covid-19 pandemic, the educational institutions had to be closed from the 3rd week of April 2021. During this period the schools had conducted online classes but most of the students could not attend due to various reasons. As such it has been noticed that there has been considerable Academic loss and it will be difficult for the students as well as the teachers to cover the course curriculum prescribed by the Board of Secondary Education, Assam for the Academic year 2021-2022.
