Assam: Traffic signals lying defunct; commuters suffer in Golaghat

At a time when the Government of Assam is talking about smart policing and improvement of the traffic system in the State, for several days the traffic signals at Bezbaruah point in Golaghat town have been lying defunct, leading to chaos at the point, especially during rush hours.

GOLAGHAT: At a time when the Government of Assam is talking about smart policing and improvement of the traffic system in the State, for several days the traffic signals at Bezbaruah point in Golaghat town have been lying defunct, leading to chaos at the point, especially during rush hours.

According to local people, the traffic signals that were installed at vital junctions in Bezbaruah Chariali point of Golaghat town, are either not functioning or the yellow light is on all the time. People have expressed resentment that although commuters are facing problems due to the defunct traffic signals, the authorities concerned are not at all bothered to fix the traffic signals.

People have demanded that the defunct traffic signals should be fixed immediately and traffic signals should also be installed at vital spots in Golaghat town to ease traffic movement.
