HATSINGIMARI: A training programme on the rehabilitation services and schemes along with their benefits for People With Intellectual Disabilities (PWID) was organised in the state. The event took place in the Auditorium Hall at Hatsingimari in South Salmara Mankachar district on the occasion of Children’s Day on Tuesday.
This training programme was conducted by the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities located in Telangana in collaboration with the South Salmara Mankachar District Administration.
The programme was attended by the District Commissioner of the South Salmara Mankachar District Rahul Kumar Gupta, the Principal of Dhubri Medical College and Hospital Dr Shamsul Haque, a large number of invited guests and Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA workers) from various parts of the district.
The district administration has organized a comprehensive program to address the needs and concerns of persons with intellectual disabilities in different parts of the district from 14 to 24 November 2023. The organisers informed that two specialists from Hyderabad also attended the function and conducted various tests on the disabled persons.
One day before this event, work was initiated on a drinking water supply project in the South Salmara Mankachar district of the state to ensure that the citizens in the region have access to clean drinking water. Under the 15th Finance Commission ( Tied Grant) 2021-2022, the state government has initiated a drinking water supply project in the district of South Salmara Mankachar. The work on the same project has started recently.
The project has been entitled Construction of Running Drinking Water Facility with funding under the Panchayat and Rural Development Department of the Government of Assam. The project has been started in the Market locality of the Kharuabandha of the South Salmara Mankachar district of the state. Several local leaders including the president and the secretary of the Gaon Panchayat of Fekamari and a former councillor along with other local people.
