GOALPARA: At least two children met a watery grave on two days in Goalpara. In the first incident, Sofiqul Ali, aged about 7 years, drowned in a paddy field while he was playing with his friends at Milannagar Santipur on Wednesday.
The area has been submerged with the recent flood waters along with the nearest Hasila Beel. In the second similar incident, a five-year boy drowned when he accidentally fell in deep water near his Borpahar Nomuna Bazar residence. The kid has been identified as Imran Tahir.
The Brahmaputra River is running above the danger level in different parts of the district.
