New Delhi: Delhi Police on Tuesday rescued two minor girls from Assam who had gone missing last week.
As per reports, the families of both the girls, who were missing since July 29 in Assam, lodged a complaint with the Police.
Following the complaint, the Delhi police along with Assam police launched a search operation and the rescued the duo from the New Delhi railway station.
The girls, who are the residents of Rowta town in Assam's Udalguri district, were suspected to be trafficking victims.
Reportedly, both the girls will soon be sent to home after completing required procedure.
Meanwhile, police are looking into the matter and also investigating the case to apprehend persons responsible for transporting the minor girls to Delhi.
Meanwhile, a class 10 student girl has been allegedly raped and killed in Assam's Hojai district.
As per reports, the girl had gone missing since Monday evening after she went to her tuition class in her hometown Lumding.
"The minor's body was found in Krishna Basti area of Lumding on Tuesday. Prima facie, it seems to rape and murder case but the cause of death will be known after post-mortem examination," a senior officer was quoted as saying by PTI.
No arrests have been made so far, he added.
On May 27 this year, two siblings are suspected to have been abducted from the Hatigaon area in Guwahati on May 27 and both the siblings happen to be minors.
A 13-year-old girl and a four-year-old boy reportedly went missing from their residence which is located in the Sijubari area of Hatigaon in Guwahati.
According to reports, the police have said that they are trying to find out whether their mother has secretly taken them away since the father was not around at the time of the incident. The police have informed that the investigation is underway.
