Assam: Two Suspected Narcotics Peddlers Apprehended by the Police

The police team was able to recover a large consignment of narcotics tablets as well as bottles during this operation.

HATSINGIMANRI: Assam police have been able to apprehend two individuals, including a minor and recovered a sizeable consignment of narcotics from their possession.

The incident took place in the South Salmara Mankachar district of the state of Assam. A team of police officials from the Kharuabandha Police Post under the South Salmara Police Station had carried out an operation in the Fekamari locality of the district. They were able to apprehend a 22-year-old named Rupchan Ali belonging to the Kakoripara Village along with a minor.

The police team was able to recover a large consignment of narcotics tablets as well as bottles during this operation. The duo were being interrogated at the Kharuabandha police post to find those related to narcotics businesses.

Meanwhile, in an effort to combat the war against drugs, Guwahati police have increased their efforts to apprehend peddlers. Based on input, Jorabat Police conducted a raid at 13 miles in Jorabat and seized a huge quantity of heroin along with four peddlers. Jorabat police seized 251.2 g of heroin concealed in 21 soap boxes. The police also seized one Baleno bearing registration AS 01 FK 1067, Rs 1,16,013 in cash, and six mobile phones. The peddlers are identified as Prem Gogoi (32), 13th Mile, under Basistha Police Station; Bhaskar Jyoti Bori (30), of Silapathar; Majun Umbang of Kulajan; and Jhon Patir (23) of Silapothar all three from Dhemaji district.

According to police sources, all of them were residing in Prem Gogoi’s house, where they kept the heroin. On the other hand, a team of East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) from Basistha Police Station seized 12.26 g of suspected heroin at a naka near NEF College. In this connection, the team arrested Sangey Tsering of Bomdila. The team also seized one mobile phone.
