Assam: Two Ukrainian National Arrested In Karimganj

The two Ukrainian nationals identified as Nazari Vozniuk and Trishchynskyi Volodymyr were found travelling in Tripura-Sundari Express with no valid documents.

GUWAHATI: The Assam police arrested two Ukrainian nationals from the Karimganj district of Assam while the duo was travelling without valid documents.

Police nabbed the two Ukrainian citizens on Thursday evening from the Badarpur Railway Station which is in Assam's Karimganj.

According to reports both the arrested person were caught with no proper documents in a New Delhi-bound train that runs from Tripura's Agartala.

The two Ukrainian has been identified as Nazari Vozniuk of 21 years old and Trishchynskyi Volodymyr of 39 years old.

As per sources, Vozniuk and Volodymyr were moving from Tripura's capital city Agartala and neither of them had any valid documents such as a visa or passport in their possession.

Police informed that both the Ukrainian nationals were travelling together on the train named Tripura-Sundari Express with the train number 14619.

It is also informed the GRP (Government Railway Police) and RFP (Railway Protection Force) suspected the two individuals and based on their suspension officials interrogated the duo.

During the interrogation, the Ukrainian nationals explained their reasons for travelling without any valid documents. They said that their documents were stolen.

According to the statement by the two arrested people, they came to India in the month of February this year for spending a vacation.

During their visit to the northeastern state of Tripura, someone has stolen their luggage in which they had kept all the important documents said the arrested Ukrainian.

Meanwhile, reports claim that police officials in Assam are in connection with the Ukraine embassy in relation to the information regarding the two arrested.

However, police made it clear that if any information provided by the two Ukrainian nationals regarding them is found to be not true then they will face strict action as per the law.
