TINSUKIA: Veteran journalist photographer Satish Bhattacharyya breathed his last on Tuesday late evening at his Balugadha residence under ward no 7 of Tinsukia Municipal Board due to prolonged illness. He was 79. As camera person he worked in Assam’s first satellite channel NDTV before joining Dibrugarh, Doordarshan. Bhattacharyya was bestowed with several awards including Media Forum Award 2019. Among those who paid last respect at his residence were Krishna Upadhayya of Tinsukia Press Club, Dr Rishi Das, president of Tinsukia District Journalists’ Association, Rupam Kakoty, advisor of Tinsukia Journalist Association of Assam, Nitin Khemka of Raju Khemka Memorial Trust, social worker BP Bakshi besides others. He leaves behind his wife, 2 sons and a daughter and a host of his admirers.
