Assam: Vigilance Directorate Nabs Corrupt Lat Mandals Across Assam in Ongoing Crackdown

Vigilance Directorate's relentless crackdown on corruption in Assam leads to the arrest of Lat Mandals involved in bribery schemes.

GUWAHATI:  In an unwavering effort to combat corruption, the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption in Assam has made significant strides, apprehending several Lat Mandals on graft charges. These recent arrests further reinforce the government's commitment to uprooting corruption from its roots.

One of the recent arrests took place in Biswanath on a Monday, where Nowshad Ali, a Lat Mandal stationed at Gohpur Revenue Circle, was caught red-handed in a nearby canteen accepting a bribe for processing Namjari. Similarly, in Morigaon district, Nabajyoti Nath, another Lat Mandal posted at Morigaon Revenue Circle, was arrested after being caught in front of the Morigaon Circle Office for accepting money in exchange for processing a mutation.

This wave of anti-corruption operations has been ongoing, with previous arrests on June 14, where two Lat Mandals, Jalaluddin Sheikh of Bhuragaon Revenue Circle in Morigaon, and Diganta Baruah of Nazira Revenue Circle in Sivasagar, were caught in their corrupt acts. Sheikh was apprehended at his residence while accepting a bribe to issue a NOC for a brick kiln, while Diganta Baruah was nabbed red-handed for accepting a bribe to issue trace map and land holding number certificates.

The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption took to Twitter to announce these successful operations and reaffirm their commitment to rooting out corruption in the state. These actions serve as a warning to other public officials involved in corrupt practices, as the authorities remain vigilant and determined in their drive to cleanse the system.

With their relentless efforts and swift actions, the Vigilance Directorate is making a significant impact on eradicating corruption from Assam. The recent arrests of Lat Mandals are a testament to their dedication in ensuring transparency, accountability, and justice in the administration.
