GUWAHATI: In a significant development, the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (V&AC) cell successfully apprehended a Junior Assistant employed within the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) department in Tamulpur, Assam. The arrest took place in the town of Rangia and was carried out meticulously as part of an elaborate trap operation on a Thursday.
The operation was initiated in response to numerous complaints and allegations of corruption involving the accused Junior Assistant. These complaints had been mounting, raising serious concerns about his involvement in illicit activities within the department.
A dedicated team of V&AC sleuths swiftly descended upon Rangia, intent on investigating and putting an end to the corruption-related activities allegedly plaguing the ICDS department.
The breakthrough in the case came when the vigilant team managed to apprehend the accused red-handed. The individual in question, identified as Jyotirmoy Baruah, was caught in the act of accepting a bribe, which he had demanded from an undisclosed individual. The reasons for concealing the identity of the complainant remain undisclosed, likely for their safety and protection.
It was revealed that Baruah had solicited the bribe with the promise of securing a coveted job as an Anganwadi worker for the relative of the complainant. Such corrupt practices undermine the principles of meritocracy and fair selection processes, and the authorities were determined to bring this misconduct to light and bring the perpetrator to justice.
At the time of his arrest, Jyotirmoy Baruah was serving as a Junior Assistant at the Nagrijuli ICDS project in Tamulpur. This position, which is meant to support the welfare and development of children and women, was unfortunately being exploited for personal gain by the accused.
The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption wasted no time in making the arrest public, taking to social media to announce their success. In a tweet, they wrote, "Today @DIR_VAC_ASSAM laid a trap in Rangia and caught red-handed Jyotirmoy Baruah, Jr Asstt, Nagrijuli ICDS project, Dist Tamulpur after he accepted bribe for helping the complainant in getting her relative selected as Anganwadi worker."
The diligent efforts of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption have led to the apprehension of a corrupt Junior Assistant operating within the ICDS department in Tamulpur, Assam. This arrest serves as a stark reminder that corrupt individuals within the system will face consequences for their actions. It also highlights the importance of continued vigilance in preserving the integrity of public institutions and ensuring that meritocracy prevails in matters of employment and public service.
