DIBRUGARH: The Brahmaputra’s water level is rising in Dibrugarh due to incessant rain in Arunachal Pradesh and upstream areas. The Brahmaputra’s water level has risen to 105.65 metres against 105.70 metres (danger level).
According to official figures, 17 villages in four revenue circles of Dibrugarh were affected due to the rising level of Brahmaputra. “Around 7,988 people have been affected due to the flood and rising level of Brahmaputra River. Two relief distribution centres have been set up at Chaulkhowa NC and Tingkhong Matikata for the distribution of relief items,” said an official of ASDMA. He said, “The Brahmaputra water level is at a rising trend. If the rainfall continues then it will cross the danger level mark in Dibrugarh.”
Due to incessant rain for the last couple of days in the upstream areas, flood waters entered the low-lying areas of Dibrugarh. Waterlogging has been witnessed in Amolapatty gaon ward, Behia Chetia and old Amolapatty ward.
