BISWANATH: A bizarre incident took place in the Bihali region of the state on Friday. A woman succumbed to her injuries after being attacked by her stepsons.
In what is being called an incidence of conflict within the family, two boys attacked their stepmother with sharp instruments. The lady named Munu Tamang Das succumbed to her injuries while her husband Niranjan Das received injuries. The names of the two sons have been revealed to be Biren Das and Pranjal Das respectively.
Meanwhile, a team from Bihali Police Station arrived at the location of the incident and took stock of the situation. They also sent the body of the deceased for a formal autopsy and started an investigation into the matter.
In another shocking incident, the mother murdered her own child soon after birth as the newborn was a girl. This bizarre incident took place in the Itakhola region of the state on Thursday.
Anowara Khaton, wife of Sofikul Seikh committed this act of child murder. They are residents of the Bandor Jonghol locality of Itakhola. Anowara Khaton reportedly murdered her newborn girl child and later buried the body.
When the neighbours came to know about the incident, they informed the local police. A police team arrived at the spot and recovered the body. They also took the woman and the dead body for a medical examination. Itakhola police have registered a complaint regarding the issue and started their investigations regarding the matter. They have also questioned the perpetrator Anowara Khaton regarding the incident.
In another incident that took place on Friday, three miscreants attacked a youth in Sualkhuchi near Guwahati. The victim sustained serious injuries in the incident and was referred to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for proper medical treatment.
