Pathshala: In a tragic incident reported from Pathshala in Assam's Barpeta district on Thursday, a woman and her two young children (aged 5 and 3) were found dead on the railway tracks.
According to reports in some sections of the media, the mother of two committed suicide due to alleged torture by her husband and in-laws.
The deceased, identified as Minuwara Khatun, reportedly jumped in front of a running train along with her two kids and all 3 died on the spot.
According to reports, the woman had been subjected to mental abuse for a very long time by her husband and in-laws, which prompted her to take this drastic decision.
This incident, reported at a time when discussions on rape have once again taken centre stage following several incidents over the past few weeks across India, has stirred up a storm. Locals of the area have condemned the husband and his family for subjecting her to mental torture that led her to kill not just herself, but her two children as well.
