GUWAHATI: A tragic incident occurred in Guwahati, Assam, where a 53-year-old woman fell to her death from the fifth floor of an apartment building. The incident took place at Shakti Enclave in Manik Nagar on Monday evening, prompting the police to launch an investigation. The woman, identified as Krishna Saikia, jumped off the balcony and was immediately rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, she was declared dead upon arrival. While the exact reason behind her extreme step is yet to be determined, preliminary findings suggest that she had been suffering from depression for the past few months.
Despite conducting a thorough examination of the scene, no suicide note was discovered. Consequently, the police registered the case as an unnatural death. The woman remained unconscious after the fall and succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday morning. Authorities continue their efforts to ascertain the circumstances leading to this tragic incident.
In another distressing incident that occurred on June 15, a 20-year-old woman was found dead in her residence's bathroom in the Jalukbari area of Guwahati. The victim, whose identity has been withheld, resided in the Katia Dalang locality on the outskirts of the city. While natural causes or accidental death cannot be completely ruled out, initial investigations suggest that the nature of the crime might be rape and murder.
The discovery that the bathroom door was locked from the outside strongly indicates foul play. Local residents provided information to the police, who promptly arrived at the crime scene and secured the body for further examination through a post-mortem. A senior police official confirmed that, based on preliminary investigations, they are treating the case as a murder. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Assam police also dispatched a team to the location to assist in the investigation.
Furthermore, on Wednesday evening, another unfortunate incident unfolded in Guwahati. The lifeless body of a woman named Jinti Bayan Choudhury, a resident of Barpeta's Ambarihaat, was discovered in room no. 114 on the first floor of Hotel Trimurty International in Paltan Bazaar. Jinti had booked the room two days prior, and her body was found under mysterious circumstances. The Paltan Bazaar Police initiated a case and are conducting a thorough investigation to determine whether the incident was a murder or an accident.
