Assam Women’s University organizes Students’ Induction Programme

Assam Women’s University (AWU) organized the Students’ Induction Programme for the newly-admitted students in both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in various departments on Wednesday.

JORHAT: Assam Women’s University (AWU) organized the Students’ Induction Programme for the newly-admitted students in both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in various departments on Wednesday. Addressing the new students and the other stakeholders of the university present in the programme, Professor Ajanta Borgohain Rajkonwar, Vice Chancellor of AWU, said that amidst all constraints, Assam Women’s University has witnessed sustainable development in recent times.

Former Air Marshal and Member of North East Council (NEC), Anjan Kumar Gogoi, in his speech as the chief guest in this programme, said that ‘National Security Studies’ should be introduced as an academic programme in the educational institutes. A person should know about different aspects national security since his or her student life. The former Air Marshal urged upon the girl students to be interested in choosing a career in the Indian Air Force too.

In the beginning of the programme, Tapan Gohain, the Registrar of Assam Women’s University delivered the welcome speech. He welcomed all the newcomers and other stakeholders of the university and deliberated upon the journey of the institute since its inception. He also thanked the former Air Marshal and Member of NEC, Anjan Kumar Gogoi for his financial support of Rs 10 crore from NEC fund to the Assam Women’s University for its infrastructural development.

Two students, Annanya Khanikor, a student of fourth semester from the Department of Political Science, and Sangmir Terangpi, a student of fourth semester, Department of Education, Assam Women’s University, who participated in the first National Legislators’ Conference (NLC) Bharat held at JIO World Centre, Mumbai, in June, talked about their experiences in the programme.
