Assam: Writer Niru Sarma Parajuli’s death condoled

The untimely death of Niru Sarma Parajuli, an eminent writer of Assam, vice-president of Assam Lekhika Sangstha, vice-president of Assam Nepali Sahitya Sabha, and former vice president of Assam Gorkha Sammelan, breathed her last at around 3.50 AM on Sunday at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai while undergoing treatment.

JAMUGURIHAT: The untimely death of Niru Sarma Parajuli, an eminent writer of Assam, vice-president of Assam Lekhika Sangstha, vice-president of Assam Nepali Sahitya Sabha, and former vice president of Assam Gorkha Sammelan, breathed her last at around 3.50 AM on Sunday at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai while undergoing treatment. She was 55.

A prolific writer, Niru Sarma Parajuli was proficient in Assamese and Nepali languages. She has many books to her credit, besides translation works and editing books of research value. An advocate of Gauhati High Court by profession, Parajuli was closely associated with many socio-cultural and literary organizations of the state.

Her demise was condoled by Assam Nepali Sahitya Sabha, Assam Gorkha Sammelan, All Assam Gorkha Students’ Union, Bahubak (Bahu Bhasik Sahitya Mancha) and other organizations. She leaves behind her advocate husband Jayanta Kumar Parajuli along with a host of relatives. Family sources said that her body was brought to Assam and her last rites will be performed at Majgaon, Behali.
