Assam: Young Girl Abducted, Raped Inside Moving Car in Gohpur

The incident reportedly took place on Friday when the 20 year-old girl victim was forcibly taken from her house by an individual named Poransadgoura Basumatary in his vehicle and raped.

SONITPUR: reports of another such crime emerged where a young girl was allegedly abducted and gang-raped inside a moving car at Gohpur in Sonitpur district of Assam, even as news of the heinous rape and murder case of a minor in Margherita earlier left people aghast in the state,.

The incident reportedly took place on Friday when the 20 year-old girl victim was forcibly taken from her house by an individual named Poransadgoura Basumatary in his vehicle and raped.

According to the reports, two others miscreants were also present in the vehicle and they allegedly video- recorded the entire incident on their mobile phones. The two others involved have been identified as Sohen Goyari and Vijay Mosahari.

Basumatary is said to have masterminded the heinous crime of abducting and raping the victim, also making a video of the crime.

After she was let out of the vehicle in another place, the victim girl reached the police station and lodged a complaint.

Reacting swiftly to the report, Assam police managed to apprehend all the accused within the night and booked them under relevant sections of the IPC.

Further investigation has been launched into the incident.

Earlier this month, reports of the rape and murder of a 12-year-old minor girl in Margherita rocked the people of Assam.

The minor victim had gone to attend a Bihu function along with her mother on the night of May 1. However, when she fell asleep, her mother left her at the home of the accused, an acquaintance to the victim’s family.

Later, when the family found that the girl was missing the next day, they immediately informed the police about the situation.

A search operation was then launched by the police, during which they found her body on Wednesday night in a septic tank of a hostel located near the residence of the accused Anan Tanti and sent the body for post-mortem.

The incident riled up the people in the area and an angry mob broke into the house of the accused in the night itself. They then demanded of the police to immediately arrest him.

The police took him into custody and he was being taken to the Margherita police station when he made an attempt to flee. Police personnel then allegedly opened fire at Tanti, injuring the accused.

He was first taken to the Margherita FRU. However, the doctors referred him to Tinsukia civil hospital for better treatment and he is in a stable condition now, a police official said.
