Assam: Youth killed in accident in Sivasagar district

GAURISAGAR: A 20-year-old youth was killed on Thursday night in a pathetic road mishap that took place on NH-37 at Charing Duarahpar under Gaurisagar Police station in Sivasagar district. The youth has been identified as Amarjyoti Nath, son of Nila Kanta Nath, a resident of Hatighuli Soontalichiga village on the outskirts of Gaurisagar. According to report, Amarjyoti was travelling from Jorhat towards home by riding his motorcycle. Suddenly, a dumper bearing registration no AS04 BC 8821 coming from the opposite direction collided head-on with his motorcycle. In the accident Amarjyoti was seriously injured and shifted to Sibsagar Civil Hospital. Due to his critical condition he was immediately shifted to Assam Medical College and Hospital, Dibrugarh. But he breathed his last on the way to hospital. His sudden demise has cast a pall of gloom in the entire Gaurisagar and Soontalichiga area. His last rites were performed on Friday evening after post mortem in a gloomy atmosphere. He is survived by his parents, a brother and a host of relatives.
