GUWAHATI: On Monday, a young man was killed while getting assaulted by a crowd in Jorhat, in a horrifying case of ethical enforcement.
The young man hailed from Khumtai, in the Golaghat area of Assam.
Animesh Bhuyan, 30, has been recognized as the dead youngster. The event occurred at a pickup stop in Jorhat's downtown area.
As per reports, Brahmaputra Anchalik Chatra Sanstha (Golaghat Unit) Secretary Of education Animesh Bhuyan, along with Mridusmanta Baruah (local TV channel journalist) and another youth (identity unknown) visited Jorhat for official duties.
According to an AASU leader (Jorhat Unit), they were attacked by a crowd hours later, who thought they were engaged in an accident case, which they were not.
As a result, Jorhat police raced on the scene and took the wounded to Jorhat Medical College Hospital (JMCH) in serious situation; nevertheless, doctors pronounced AASU leader Animesh Bhuyan dead.
A crowd of more than 50 individuals assaulted the three youngsters, killing Animesh Bhuyan. He previously served as the president of the All Assam Students' Union (AASU). The other two suffered injuries and are in the hospital.
Furthermore, the AASU has requested that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma investigate the situation and that all of the perpetrators be arrested within 24 hours. The event has also been criticised by the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP).
The tragedy, which occurred in full daytime, has sparked outrage, with many criticising the government' failed to protect it. Furthermore, the student organisations vowed to intensify the protests by imposing a "complete closure" in the Jorhat district.
