Assam Youth Nabbed For Extending Support To ULFA-I On Facebook

The arrested youth named Pramod Kalita is a fourth-semester student at Tangla College and a resident of Borengabari village in Udalguri district of Assam.

Udalguri: A 22-year-old youth has been apprehended by the Kalaigaon police in the Udalguri district of Assam after he allegedly extended support to banned militant outfit ULFA on social media.

The arrested youth named Pramod Kalita is a fourth-semester student at Tangla College and a resident of Borengabari village in the Udalguri district of Assam.

Taking to Facebook, Kalita wrote, ''I always support ULFA „, love you my heart. United Liberation front of From Udalguri.''

Following this post in support of ULFA, police nabbed him and also slapped a case against him under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) that are applicable to whoever in "any way assists the operations of such association" or whoever "advocates, abets, advises or incites the commission of, any unlawful activity".

In addition to this, the youth has been booked under Section 120(B)/121 /121(A).

''The youth extended its support to banned separatist outfit on social media and accordingly, we have nabbed him and produced him before a local court in Udalguri on Sunday, '' a police official aware of the matter was quoted as saying by media.
