Assam:Indian National Congress protests against power tariff hike

The Indian National Congress (INC) protested and burnt the order of the Assam Government against a hike in power tariff rates. They also shouted placards holding placards in their hands at Dongkamukam inWest Karbi Anglong on Thursday.

DONGKAMUKAM: The Indian National Congress (INC) protested and burnt the order of the Assam Government against a hike in power tariff rates. They also shouted placards holding placards in their hands at Dongkamukam inWest Karbi Anglong on Thursday.

The Congress also promised to provide 200 units of free electricity when it comes to power in the State. Later in the meeting held at the WKADCC office premises at Dongkamukam, it was decided to hold a ‘Booth Sanmelan’ at Dongkamukam in West Karbi Anglong district on October 10 where Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Bora will attend as the chief guest.

WKADCC president Sing Teron has requested all the cells in-charge to speed up the work so that the programme is successful.

TINSUKIA: As per the directive from the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), the Tinsukia District Congress Committee (TDCC) staged a protest against the rising electricity tariff.

The APDCL has issued a public notification to power consumers of the State regarding an increase in the per-unit price of electricity, which is likely to become a significant burden for the common people. The TDCC observed the protest rally at APDCL’s Thermal gate at Tinsukia on Thursday. The protest rally was led by Pranab Baruah, president of TDCC, and was participated by several Congress activists. Later, the TDCC took a pledge to provide 200 units of free electricity to every household if the Congress comes to power.
