GUWAHATI: In their upcoming match against Sweden, the Indian Women's Football Team will be led by Apurna Narzary of Assam. Apurna Narzary has been selected as the team's captain to play Sweden, which is a source of tremendous pride for the state.

Taking on Twitter Education Minister Ranoj Pegu extended his best wishes, “It's great news - Apurna Narzary from Kokrajhar is the captain of Indian Women's Football team to play in Sweden."
The Indian Women's Football team, headed by Assam's daughter Apurna Narzary, thrashed Singapore by a score of 7-0 in Vietnam in March of this year.
This decisive victory in the first round of the AFC Under-20 Asian Cup Qualifiers was led by the women's team's captain, Apurna Narzary. The women's team defeated their opponents by a score of seven and completely destroyed them.
Apurna Narzary of Assam, the team's captain, concluded a strong performance against Singapore in the game played in Vietnam with a hat trick.
She is the daughter of Biswajit Narzary of Khagrabari village in the Kokrajhar district. She has participated in numerous international events on behalf of India, including ones in Thailand, Bangladesh, and Qatar.
In the group that will compete against one another in the qualifiers, India is joined by the hosts Vietnam, Singapore, and Indonesia.
Apurna Narzary, meantime, is a veteran of the national team, having competed for India's U-18 team in the SAFF Women's Championship. Her ability to challenge the opposing defence from the front has earned her a spot on the senior squad.
