Assam's Journalist Contact Number Uploaded On Porn Page, Becomes Victim of Cybercrime

On Thursday Barsha wrote on her Twitter that someone has left her number on a porn page on Facebook and are being harassed by unknown numbers.

GUWAHATI: Unknown miscreants have purportedly uploaded a contact number of a girl on a porn page on Facebook.

The girl identified as Barsha Basumatary is a resident of Assam and a journalist by profession.

On Thursday Barsha wrote on her Twitter that someone has left her number on a porn page on Facebook and are being harassed by unknown numbers.

"Someone left my number on a porn page on Facebook, I'm being harassed by some unknown numbers and I have been receiving. Some video calls and text messages from unknown numbers, I have attached screenshots of some numbers with the application from where I got calls", Barsha wrote.

She also tagged Dhubri Police, Assam Police, Special DGP GP Singh and Abhijit Gurav who is SP of Assam's Dhubri district urging them to intervene in the matter.

"And And I have also given the link of the page where my number is given. Sir please find out as soon as possible who did this disgusting act. Sir please kindly look into this matter. These are the numbers from where I got calls", she wrote.

After her post on Twitter, the Assam police asked her to file a complaint about cybercrime.

Earlier, the senior police officers of the North Eastern (NE) States held a high-level meeting under the banner of the Regional Cyber Crime Co-ordination Committee (R4C) to discuss ways and strategies to tackle the growing cybercrimes. Speaking at the meeting, State Director General of Police Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta said cyber policing has become very crucial now to save cyber space from antisocial elements. He thanked the Union Ministry of Home Affairs for holding such an important meeting in Guwahati.
