Assam's Sonitpur jolted by 3.5 magnitude earthquake

An earthquake of magnitude 3.5 occurred in Sonitpur district of Assam on Saturday, August 8

Guwahati: A mild-intensity earthquake measuring 3.5 magnitude on the Richter scale today jolted Assam's Sonitput district in the early morning hours.

According to the National Center for Seismology, the government's nodal agency for monitoring seismic activity, the earthquake struck at 5:26 am in the morning today.

On July 16, an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.1 on the Richter Scale had struck Karimganj in Assam at 7:57 am

An earthquake of magnitude 3.8 also jolted the Gajapati district of Odisha at 7:10 am today.

Several Northeast Indian states have been experiencing moderate earthquakes over the past few months.
