GUWAHATI: The Coordination Committee of the Tribal Organizations of Assam (CCTOA) has welcomed the State government's act of making Bodo an associate official language of the State. In a statement issued to the media by chief coordinator of the CCTOA, Aditya Khakhlari said, "By passing the Assam Official Language (Amendment) Bill, 2020 the State government has given due respect to the Bodo language. The Bodos have been able to get this honour after a long struggle. This apart, the passage of the Bill for the creation of the Bodo Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council outside the BTAD will benefit the nine lakh Bodo-Kacharis living outside the BTAD. It will help them develop themselves on socio-economic and educational fronts, besides political rights."
