GOLAGHAT: The All Tai Ahom Students’ Union (ATASU) Golaghat district union submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat on Thursday demanding an immediate ban on gutkha in Golaghat district.
In a press statement, publicity secretary Ankuraj Konwar said that a delegate comprising Golaghat ATASU president Krishna Baruah, working president Pankaj Gogoi, and joint secretary Dipjyoti Tamuly and Goutam Lahon visited the Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat and appealed to ban tobacco and gutkha like materials in Golaghat district. They said that the Bokakhat subdivisional administration had taken stringent action against tobacco and gutkha trade in the subdivision which was appreciable. The ATSAU demanded the Golaghat district administration to take necessary measures to stop the use of gutkha and tobacco in the district.
